And Skynet comes one step closer to enslaving humanity!
If history and the Stanford Prison Experiment have taught us anything it's that some humans don't make the best prison employees. They can be injured, influenced or bribed in a manner that is detrimental to a prison's objectives. Robots on the other hand, are completely objective and follow instructions quite well. At least until they decide the human race is obsolete to their existence and slaughter us all.
South Korea doesn't seem too concerned about the latter, as they have just finished testing their brand new robot prison guard. Although its primary objectives are to watch over the prisoners and report any suspicious activity, the robot prison guard also serves another humanitarian purpose. Apparently, the robot is equipped with sensors that can monitor the emotional state of prisoners.
In addition to monitoring emotional states, the robot records normal behaviors and habits so that it can keep an eye out for erratic behavior or suicidal tendencies. Equipped with a camera and two-way audio system, human prison guards can still communicate with prisoners through the robot. Seeing as how it is wirelessly controllable through an application, let's hope they don't decide to equip the robot prison guard with some weapons for self-defense.
