7 investment lessons from Rakesh Jhunjhunwala

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala is a qualified CA and has chosen trading in stocks as his profession. Many consider him as the Indian version of Warren Buffet.
He is also sometimes referred to as 'The Golden Hand' of Indian stock market. People believe that everything he touches (invests) turns to gold.
Such is his popularity that there are people who track his portfolio and invest in the same companies that he invests.
So, what's his secret of success? What are his investment strategies which have made him a billionaire? Let's see what we can learn from him.
Buy for long term
Though he is investing in the stock market, he is not a short term trader. He invests in stocks for the long term. And this strategy has paid off for him. Some of the stocks he owns have multiplied his wealth over the years.
Had he sold them the moment they appreciated by 10-20 per cent, we wouldn't have been talking about him now.

Belief in India's growth story
He is one of those guys who believes strongly in India's growth story. He says again and again that Indian economy will keep growing. So, be a part of it.
The only way you can be a part of a growing India is to invest in its stock market. If you are investing in debt instruments like fixed deposits or bonds, you will not be able to reap multifold returns by any means.

Search for value
Rakesh Jhunjhunwala believes in value oriented companies. He has his team who helps him in finding companies which offer value in the long term.
If the stock prices of these companies are higher now, he tends to wait a bit, but finally gets his hands on them.
Before buying a stock, he closely studies its management style, growth potential, competitive nature and many more factors.

One cannot create wealth through free advice
In an interview given to Mumbai Mirror, he has said that one cannot make wealth through borrowed advice.
You need to do your own research before making any investment. Free advice can actually cost you later.
If you blindly follow someone's free advice, you might not be paying them anything now but you will realise later when those investment turn out to be duds. That loss can be a lot more than the fees that you pay for an expert's advise.

Invest only in what you know
He invests only in companies whose business he can understand.
He does not opt for complex businesses.
'Keep it simple' is his strategy when it comes to investin

Consistency
If it's done once, it could be a lottery. But if it's done again and again, we call it consistency. This is what Rakesh Jhunjhunwala is known for.
He consistently invests in the stock market irrespective of the conditions. The quantum or strategy of investing can differ based on those conditions but he has never left his belief that stock market will always deliver for you if you do everything right.

Success comes from failure
It's not that he has not tasted failure. Some of his investments have also been duds.
He believes that success springs out of failures. If you fail, instead of crying over it you should know why you have failed. Did you not read the business well? Were the markets hit by some bad news?
These are some questions whose answers he wants you to search.

5 reasons you will most definitely fail your job interview

Being inappropriately dressed in an interview can be held against you by the employer.

Can an inappropriate e-mail id cost you your dream job?
If you think 'you lack experience' is a silly reason to be rejected, you are wrong.
Lack of experience is actually a strong reason for rejection and you cannot count that against anyone.
If lack of experience was the reason why you couldn't make the cut you should rejoice because there are many others who are rejected for ridiculously silly reasons and some of them are rejected despite having experience.
While you cannot avoid being rejected for a few reasons such as lack of experience and qualification required for a particular job, there are other reasons that you can work on.
Listed below are five of the silliest reasons to get rejected:
1. Being badly dressed
The first impression of a prospective candidate is usually based on how s/he presents herself/himself.
Your hair should be neat and your clothing should be professional.
Wrinkled shirts, clothing with stains, not bothering to comb your hair, and/or not polishing your shoes are some of the worst things you could do for yourself.
You are going to meet a potential employer, not a friend.
Be serious in the way you dress to an interview.

2. A ludicrous e-mail ID

iamthebest@yahoo.com, shiningstar@gmail.com, princessdoll@yahoo.com.
Seriously?
Are these the email IDs you would provide to your potential employers to contact you?
Bad e-mail IDs are among the silliest and among the most common reasons why employers reject candidates.
Organisations definitely don't want to hire someone who expects to be contacted at iamahero@yahoo.com.
Employers look for serious candidates who have a professional e-mail address.
If you don't have a professional e-mail yet, create one with your complete name.
If it is already taken you may add an underscore, full stop, or a number at the end of your name, but using ridiculous email IDs will count negatively for you.

3. A badly written CV

You will never understand the gravity of good grammar and error-free CV until you are rejected on those grounds.
Most employers get frustrated when they see silly spelling errors, typos, and grammatical mistakes in a resume.
This is because it shows the applicant's carelessness and it is very unprofessional.
Even if you have good experience, fashioning a bad CV will work against you.
Alongside, silly fonts, long paragraphs, writing too much about yourself, and not focusing on the job will cause employers to reject you
4. Lack of research

There are many candidates who simply attend interviews without even knowing what the job entails or which domain the company works in.
The interviewer will definitely ask you questions about the company and when you fail to answer or just give general answers, it will show that you are not serious about it and you are likely applying to every job opening that you find.
Employers don't really want to hire candidates who are not motivated to particularly work for them because such candidates lack enthusiasm and passion.

5. Confidence issues

There are people who lack confidence and there are people who have confidence in excess. Both are bad for you.
Lack of confidence shows that you doubt your own skills.
It also directly relates to lack of people skills and communication skills, which is a huge disadvantage in today's world.
At the same time, being overconfident portrays you as pompous and someone who thinks too much about themselves.
No one likes such a candidate.
Avoid being cocky and arrogant while answering questions in the interview.
Don't try asking too many questions unless you are specifically encouraged to do so.
Don't make it seem like you are the interviewer.
It is highly recommended that you make a great first impression and be polite in a prospective job interview.
But before that, tailor your CV according to the job description and research the company well.
In your interview, be positive but not overconfident.
Taking care of such things will automatically increase your chances of being accepted. Good luck!

10 Harley Davidson Street 750 facts you totally must know

Harley Davidson Street 750

This beast of a motorcycle will be all yours for Rs 4.6 lakh. A quick scan to help you find if it is worth it.
The Harley Davidson Street 750 is an all new Harley-Davidson platform in 14 years.
It has been developed to appeal to urban riders and is now the entry-level motorcycle for the company in many markets (some markets have also got the Street 500 which will be launched in India next year).

The Street 750 is the first Harley Davidson bike ever to be manufactured outside of the US.
All Harley bikes sold in the world were being manufactured solely in the US while in some cases they are being assembled (like India via the CKD route).
The Street 750, however, is made in India for the Asian and European markets.

The instrument cluster doesn't have a tachometer while the display only shows odometer and tripmeters (A and B).
There is no fuel meter, time, distance to empty on the Street 750's console.

The Street 750 falls short on quality. The wiring is a complete mess and is exposed at multiple places.
Some wires don't even have wraps around them, like around the horn and the rear master cylinder, you can see yellow and red wires.

The 749cc, V-Twin engine is liquid-cooled and is called Revolution X. It's a new engine and a modern one at that.
Refinement is good and there is good amount of mid-range punch, enough to propel the bike from 0-100 km/hr in under 5 seconds.
The Street 750 doesn't sound like a typical Harley, there is no POTATO-POTATO here.

The Street 750 produces 65 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM while horse power output is expected to be between 55 to 60 BHP.
The gearbox is smooth but doesn't get into neutral so easily.
Mileage of the Street 750 is between 20-25 km/l

The Street 750 has a long wheelbase, it remains stable at speed and can do a top whack of 180 km/hr.
Ride quality is excellent and the suspension absorbs almost everything on the road.
Ground clearance is good enough to prevent any speed breaker from scraping the underbody.

The Street 750 is an easy to ride bike and is suited to short riders (not to tall riders). It's easy to manoeuvre in the city and the steering is light too. It's the lightest Harley currently with a weight of 218 kgs.

The Street 750 uses specially developed tyres for India, which are MRFs.
Made in India bikes which will be exported will use Michelin rubber.
Some components on the Street 750 are sub-par like the Endurance brakes. The brakes itself lack enough stopping power.

The Street 750 is heavily localised in India for an aggressive price tag.
It costs Rs 4.92 lakh in Mumbai and bookings are open, with deliveries commencing in September for those who book now.
A range of accessories are offered for this Harley
